ASR Africa presents award letters worth N10Billion to security agencies as its contributions to National Security

The Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) recently presented letters of award to security agencies as part of its security sector support grant. This grant which is given under the Social Development component of ASR Africa was given to identified agencies including: The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Nigerian Navy, The Nigerian Air Force, The Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).  

The letters of award were presented at separate events to the Service Chiefs and the Head of the Security Agencies. The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. MB Marwa (Retd) received the award on behalf of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency while Admiral AZ Gambo received an award letter on behalf of the Nigerian Navy. In a separate event, the Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Isiaka Oladayo Amao received same on behalf of the Nigerian Air Force while the Director Policy and Planning received the award letter for Major-General Ibrahim Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff Nigerian Army. At the NSCDC, the Commandant General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi received the award on behalf of the agency.

The award was presented to the recipients by the M/ CEO of ASR Africa, Mr Ubon Udoh, in company of other team members. Mr Uboh used the opportunity to reiterate that the donation is part of the security sector grant generously donated by the Chairman Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu, who believes that there can be no development without security. This letter of award comes after the Chairman of ASR made the announcement of this grant earlier this year on his visit to the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces- HE President Mohammed Buhari.

The recipients commended the Chairman of ASR Africa for his philanthropy and support for humanity. They promised judicious use of the funds while adhering to ASR’s terms and condition for the disbursement of the funds.

The ASR team have scheduled follow up meetings to begin looking into the proposals submitted by the agencies and a possible alignment of proposals with the approved grant.
