2 Aug. 2022 – Abuja

The Abdul Samad Rabiu Initiative for Africa (ASR Africa) and the National Early Warning Centre have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, promoting partnership between both organizations.

The Early Warning Centre which is also known as the Office for Strategic Preparedness and Resilience was established under ECOWAS instruments by President Muhammadu Buhari earlier this year. As part of the ECOWAS regional peace and security architecture, the Centre promotes human security.

Speaking at the occasion, the MD of ASR expressed satisfaction for the partnership and thanked the DG for believing in ASR Africa’s capacity to deliver not just financially but also technically, to aid the work of the National Early Warning Centre. He also added that the Abdul Samad Rabiu Initiative is a 100-million-dollar fund; which is the personal Philanthropic gesture of the Chairman of the BUA group- Alhaji Abdul Samad Rabiu and it is dedicated to support African states and Governments in seeking solutions to African problems.

In his response, the DG of the Early Warning Centre- Dr Chris Ngwodo, thanked ASR Africa for making the partnership possible. He also added that the mandate of his organization provides collaborations such as this; as long as it contributes to health and food security, as well as community recovery for increased productivity. He mentioned that he looks forward to widening Government interventions in these areas through the partnership with ASR Africa.

The team is scheduled to have its first technical session soon after this event.
