10 Aug. 2022 – Abuja

The Abdul Samad Rabiu Initiative for Africa (ASR Africa) is set to provide technical support to the Federal College of Education (Technical) Gusau, Zamfara state.

This was made known at the signing of MOU event held in the ASR office in Abuja. The College is an all-female college founded in 1989 under the Federal College of Education decree of 1989 to train competent female technology teachers and potential entrepreneurs, for technological and national development. Over the years, the college has struggled to achieve its mission due to its poor visibility as an all technical school, low enrolment rate associated with security challenges and lack of institutional, infrastructural and financial capacity.

Speaking at the occasion, the MD of ASR, Mr Ubon Udoh, highlighted ASR’s commitment to ensuring the development of the educational sector of Nigeria stating that this partnership is a step in the right direction. He expressed his satisfaction with the plans developed by his team to transform the college; adding that the college with all its potentials should be a reference point for Women STEM Development in Africa.

The chairman of the governing council FCET, ARC. Ubokutom Nyah, expressed his gratitude over the partnership and appreciated the commitment the ASR team has shown towards the actualization of the partnership over the past months. He believes that this partnership between the two parties will create a solid foundation for the development of the school and it’s environ.

The MOU signing event came after a one-day high-level technical session held between the ASR team and a delegation of key officers of the College.
